Cool Thing of the Week: Michigan Beer

The Warrendale neighborhood is home to really great bars and restaurants. However, for far too long, those bars and restaurants have only offered beer, wine, and spirits from the big, multinational breweries, wineries, and distilleries. This is in spite of the fact that there are some great offerings being made right here in the Detroit area.

Now, however, this seems to be changing. Gracie See Pizzeria (6889 Greenfield Rd.) is offering Motor City Guettoblaster, which is a classic English-style mild ale. It's only one made in Michigan beer in their line up, but it's a start.

Besides, I've always thought of Motor City Guettoblaster as a gateway beer. People start with this one, discover that there is a great alternative to the other stuff that they have been drinking, decide to try a couple of other ones, and before long they are sampling the great offerings of the Great Lakes State on a regular basis.

Plus, if Motor City Guettoblaster becomes popular at Gracie See, I'm sure we'll see the dozens of other bars and restaurants in Warrendale add made in Michigan offerings to their drink menus as well. Therefore, I'm proud to proclaim Michigan Beer to be the Cool Warrendale Thing of the Week.
