Cool Warrendale Thing: Pizza with Bob Ficano

Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano Answers Questions from Residents

I have organized a monthly pizza party at Gracie See Pizzeria (5880 Greenfield Rd.) for a few years now. It's usually a good time to see a variety of current and former residents of Warrendale neighborhood as well as other friends who just like visiting us. However, last week marked the first time that a sitting elected official took the time out of his or her busy schedule to talk with people. I have invited several, but Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano was the first to accept.

Mr. Ficano talked for a few minutes about some of the things that Wayne County is doing to help residents who are facing foreclosure or upside down with their mortgages. He also talked briefly about economic development, Head Start, and other county programs.

From there, the floor was open to any question that anyone wanted to ask. We discussed the various allegations that have been made about him as well as property taxes, jails, parks, and the environment. It has been years since I have seen any elected official this willing to answer calmly any question that any resident wanted to ask of him.

The fact that this happened at my monthly pizza party just makes me ever so happy. It makes me so happy, in fact, that I am proud to proclaim this experience to be the Cool Warrendale Thing of the Week.
