New Bill to Promote Financial Literacy

State Representative Harvey Santana, whose district includes the Warrendale neighborhood, has introduced House Bill 4988 which would require a high school course in basic financial literacy. It would teach students the basics of managing their money, the importance of budgeting, the importance of saving, the uses of credit, and the dangers of debt.

This would be a no-nonsense course designed to teach the economic realities of money and how we use it. A student would have to take this course before graduating from high school.

Our children need schooling on financial literacy. I, personally, think that this bill is a good idea.

If you would like to express your opinion on this legislation, please contact State Rep. Santana via his web site.
