Breaking News: Kilpatrick Goes Back to Jail

Former Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick has been sentenced to 18 months to 5 years in jail for probation violations.

The Detroit Free Press has continuously updated coverage here.

Personally, I'm not thrilled with this decision. Mr. Kilpatrick is even less likely to repay Detroiters the money he owes us while he's in a jail cell than he would if he's working.

But I'm not surprised by the judge's actions.

If he isn't paying anyway, what's the difference? He thought he was above the law and could continue playing the system. In the end, lying didn't pay off.

He may have been fired -didn't make a sale anyway, but he is a salesman with contacts and will probably have a job lined up. Hopefully he learns from this and starts paying when he gets his next job.
