Cool Warrendale Thing: Soccer

There is a group of people who are trying to organize a coed recreational soccer league in Detroit; one that would represent some of the city's different neighborhoods. Personally, I think this is a really cool idea.

I would love to start such a team in the Warrendale neighborhood - even though most of what little soccer knowledge I have comes from watching Keira Knightley in Bend It Like Beckham.

Keira Knightley...

(Yes, I need a moment here.)

Okay - I'm good.

Back to the blog.

As I was saying before my fantasies got the best of me, I would love to work with the Detroit City Futbol League to start a soccer team in the Warrendale neighborhood.  I think it would be a lot of fun.

I draw the line at calling soccer "futbol." Regardless, I think this could be a lot of fun to get involved with.

If you would like to be a part of this effort in any way, please let me know. Anyone who is interested can reach me either on Facebook or by sending an email to frank [dot] nemecek [at] gmail [dot] com.

In the meantime, I hereby proclaim the Detroit City Futbol League to be my Cool Warrendale Thing of the Week.
