100 Hours

100 hours from now, polls will close for Detroit's special mayoral election. Either Dave Bing or Ken Cockrel will emerge as the victor. Once the City's Election Commission certifies the results, that person will immediately become responsible for responding to a host of problems in the Motor City.

In a way, I'm looking forward to having this experience in our review mirror. All of this back and forth about how great the mini-stations that Mr. Cockrel opened are; how Mr. Bing's group of secret advisers is terrible but how Mr. Cockrel's secret advisers and plans from last year were alright.

I really hope that at some point in the near future, we can actually start talking about things like improving police response times, economic development in the neighborhoods and the quality of city services. That would be a really cool conversation to have.
