The Detroit News reported this morning that former Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick awarded at $10 million contract to provide and service photocopiers to one of his friends, term-limited State Representative Ken Daniels. Much of the work that was required under the contract was never done and Daniels' company wasn't even authorized to sell or service copiers by any of the manufacturers.

I'm glad that Mayor Ken Cockrel is rooting out contracts like this. The question now is: what will happen now? Will the City Council actually rescind this contract? Since the work wasn't done, will the City sue to recapture any funds that were paid to Daniels?

In my opinion, how these questions are answered will do much to demonstrate what type of a leader Mayor Cockrel will be.
