Cool Warrendale Thing: Mayor Kilpatrick

It's almost over.

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm will have a removal hearing next week to consider removing Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick from office. Based on the two criteria that she said her decision will be based on, it is almost inevitable that she will remove him from office.

Mayor Kilpatrick and his attorneys are reportedly still in negotiations with the prosecutors for a plea deal. For his sake, for the sake of his wife and children as well as for everyone else in his life, I sincerely hope that such a deal is reached by this weekend.

However, and this is the important part, at this point it seems that this ordeal will finally be over within the next week - at least for Detroit as a community.

And that is a very cool thing.

The light at the end of the tunnel on the Kwame Kilpatrick Roller Coaster: the Cool Warrendale (and everywhere else in Michigan) Thing of the Week.
