Tonight marks the Winter Solstice. Interestingly enough, not only will this be the longest night of 2015 but - because the Earth's rotation has been gradually slowing for eons - it will also be the longest night in the history of our planet.
Granted, it will only be longer than any other Winter Solstice night by a tiny fraction of a second; not something that anyone would even notice. I still think it's cool to think about, though.
The Warrendale (Detroit) Blog will return in earnest on Monday, February 1.
