Will Rob Ford be able to visit Detroit?

When it comes to news stories that never seem to end, there are few bigger than Mayor Rob Ford of Toronto and his public admission that he has smocked crack cocaine. There have been hundred of headlines devoted to it across the United States and even more in Canada. It has even become routine fodder for late night comedy shows.

This story hits home because Mayor Ford has announced that he intends to visit the Detroit area in the coming weeks. He intends to attend the NHL Winter Classic, where the Detroit Red Wings will host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

This is problematic because, as the Toronto Star points out, U.S. immigration law deems anyone who admits to using illegal narcotics to be inadmissible to the United States. This holds true even if no criminal charges were ever filed, as is the case with Mayor Ford.

All of this makes me wonder: will Mayor Ford be allowed into the United States? Should he even be allowed in?

I'm not sure on this one. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this one in the comments section below.
