|Trash Stuffed into Sewer - Photo by Frank Nemecek|
I find some of the strangest things as I walk through the Warrendale neighborhood in Detroit. Some scrapper apparently stole the cast iron grate that used to go over the sewage drain on Dayton St. between Stahelin and Artesian Streets. This, of course, left a hole that a small child could fall into, a car's tire could be destroyed by, or where any number of other catastrophes could happen.
Someone then decided to stuff an inordinate amount of trash and debris into this opening, presumably to prevent such an unfortunate instance from happening. It looks terrible and won't allow water to flow down the sewer. However, I can't thinking that it's probably safer than an open hole.
