The Benefits of Historic Preservation in Warrendale

I had the pleasure of taking several board members from Preservation Detroit on a tour of the Warrendale neighborhood a few weeks ago. There is a decent chance that a few sites in the neighborhood, or even a portion of the neighborhood itself, might receive a historic designation in the not too distant future.

This would likely mean more money flowing into Warrendale, stronger property values, and a lot of other positives. The designation process is a lengthy one with lots of public meetings.

Before that starts, though, I invite everyone to read this article on the benefits of a local historic district from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
