Krystal Crittendon Continues on Path to Getting Fired

Krystal Crittendon, a long-time associate of convicted felon Monica Conyers and the Corporation Counsel for the City of Detroit, is currently withholding another $28 million in funding from the State of Michigan. According to The Detroit News, she isn't willing to commit to giving up on her widely debunked claim that the State of Michigan owes the City of Detroit hundreds of millions of dollars nor is she willing to sign off on documents that would enable the City to refinance some of its current debt.

The ironic part of this is that Ms. Crittendon's actions dramatically increase the probability that the City of Detroit will placed under the control of an emergency manager. Once that happens, this individual - who would be appointed by Governor Rick Snyder - would have the authority to fire Ms. Crittendon. This is something that Mayor Dave Bing previously tried to do, but the City Council blocked.

There is very little doubt in mind that firing Ms. Crittendon would be one of the first things that an emergency manager would do. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

Of course, when and if she gets fired, she's immediately going to sue somebody.

One way or another, Detroit will never be rid of Krystal Crittendon!

You're right in that she'll probably sue once she is finally fired. When that happens, Detroit will face some additional legal expenses. They'll be less than the $28 million that she will potentially cost us here, but those expenses will be there.

The important thing is that there's a huge difference between filing a lawsuit and prevailing in court. All you need to sue someone is $150 for the filing fee. It takes a lot more than that in order get a judgment in your favor.
