The Detroit News reports that Tom Lijana has resigned his post as Mayor Dave Bing's finance director. The News also reports that more resignations are to be expected in the coming weeks as the Mayor roles out a new organizational chart with new responsibilities for mayoral responsibilities.
There are several questions still to be answered.
- When will this new organizational chart be rolled out?
- Will it prove to be a part of the comprehensive change that the City of Detroit desperately needs?
- Or will it be yet another effort to rearrange the deck chairs on the R.M.S. Titanic?
I hope and pray that this is the beginning of something spectacular in Detroit. My fear, however, is that will prove to be a slightly different group of people doing basically the same things in much the same way, without accomplishing much of anything in the process.
Only time will tell the answers to these question for certain. As this situation unfolds, of course, I will have more about it on this blog.
