Pondering Parking in Detroit

As I sit up waiting for election results to roll in, I'm going through all of those emails that have fallen by the proverbial wayside. One of them is rather important.

I have heard from two friends who live in Midtown area and in downtown Detroit that they have seen a noticeable increase in parking enforcement. They have also seen a dramatic increase in the number of cars that are getting booted. It would appear that the City of Detroit is trying to fill its budget deficit with parking fines.

So far, this seems to be largely confined to downtown. It hasn't hit the Warrendale neighborhood yet. However, as the City's budget problems drag on, it's only a matter of time before they expand their enforcement efforts.
