Cobo Deal Really Is Dead

The venerable Crain's Detroit Business has proclaimed the deal to transfer Cobo (1 Washington Blvd.) to a regional authority that would renovate and expand it to be dead. The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled this morning that Mayor Kenneth V. Cockrel, Jr. did not in fact have the legal authority to veto the Detroit City Council's resolution disapproving of the transfer. More importantly, he has decided not to appeal this matter to the Michigan Supreme Court.

This, of course, was essentially what I predicted eight days ago in a previous blog post as well a second blog post a month before that. The only part of this affair, quite frankly, was the fact that Mr. Cockrel decided not to appeal this matter to the Michigan Supreme Court.

There are moments when I really hate being right about things.
