Volunteers: Cool Warrendale Thing of the Week

Okay - usually I highlight a bar or something about Warrendale that I think is really every Wednesday. This time, however, the Cool Warrendale Thing of the Week for November 1, 2006 is the volunteers who work for the Warrendale Community Organization and the Warrendale Radio Patrol.

In spite of the fact that they don't get paid a single penny...

In spite of the fact that they got eggs and other crap thrown at their cars on Monday...

In spite of the fact that the Detroit Police Department treated them like crap that evening...

In spite of the fact that they have so many different reasons to throw in the towel and say "Forget it!"...

In spite of all of that - they still showed up to help again on Tuesday.

Even the 80-year old amputee kept going when no one would have blamed him for not even starting.

It's their dedication makes Warrendale one of the coolest neighborhoods around.
