The Fight to Save Rouge Park

Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick has proposed selling 115 acres of land in River Rouge Park and the Friends of Rouge Park are organizing to stop it. They came to last night's Warrendale Community Organization membership meeting, explained their position and answered questions from the community.

They are planning a protest rally this Saturday at Joy Road and Spinoza in the park, starting at noon.

In addition, the Detroit City Council will have a public hearing on Mayor Kilpatrick's proposal on Tuesday, October 17 at 7 p.m. in Lessenger Middle School (map available here). Members of the public are invited to speak for two minutes at this hearing. A written copy of your remarks, with 15 copies for everyone at the hearing, is also appreciated.
