Interesting Read: Detroit's Master Plan

Here's an interesting read for the weekend.

Take a look at the City of Detroit's official masterplans for the Warrendale area, as of March 2004.

I don't really have a whole lot of comments other than it would be nice if the City would include smaller neighborhood parks. Not many of these exist. We do however have a wonderful huge park in Rouge and I am thankfule for that. It would be nice if Rouge's bike paths were linked into Dearborn Heights, and Hine's park bike paths.

The city should really also review the mini strip malls being built. Don;t get me wrong, they are all full so I understand that they are needed, but it would be nice if they were built in a way that better utilized on-street parking, and kept the buildings at the same distance away from the road as the others. Perhaps this could be achieved with two buildings instead of one, with a nice parking area in the center, and using the side streets and Warren for parking as well.
